     apostille  )
    .
Apostille confirms the official status of a domestic document that needs to be used abroad – in a country from the list group_1869.png  It confirms the authenticity of the signature, the capacity in which the person who signed the document acted and the identity of the seal or stamp on the document. Apostilles are recognized and issued by Poland and over 120 other countries.
Apostille was introduced by the convention abolishing the requirement of legalization for foreign official documents drawn up in The Hague on October 5, 1961 (Journal of Laws of 2005, No. 112, item 938) and applies to countries that have adopted this convention.
    .
       How to obtain an apostille?
    .
You can obtain an apostille in the country that issued the document. The list of countries, parties to the Hague Convention, and the addresses of institutions where you can obtain an apostille are available here group_1869.png
    .

     legalisation  )
    .
Legalisation is a certification that the document has been issued by a proper office - my means of legalization the consul certifies the authenticity of a signature and stamp/seal of a foreign official. Countries that do not recognize the apostille require holders of foreign documents to legalize them. Legalization applies to states non-members of the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents of 5 October 1961 (Journal of Laws of 2005, no. 112, item 938).
    .
       How to obtain a legalisation?
    .
Usually the document is legalized by the consul of Republic of Poland in the country where the document was issued. Please notice that consul can only legalize originals and official copies of documents. Photocopies and computer printouts cannot be legalized. The documents must be authenticated by the competent local authority before you present them to the consul. In most countries authentication is made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice or another central authority of the document's country of origin. Please contact the consulate and inquire about the procedure for legalizing documents.
